The W.E.A. meeting arranged foi* ■ to-morrow night, when a play was to be read lias been cancelled. Mr E, -F. Healey, M.P. for Wairau, is a visitor to Hawera. The Australian Press understands that Archbishop Kelly, of Sydney, is likely to be elevated to cardinal at the end of the month, states a Press Association message from London. No further improvement is reported from To Kuiti Hospital of the condition of Mr George Preeee. of Matapu. who was injured in a motor accident near Pio Pio on Friday. Mr Alan Good, of Hawera, who accompanied Mr Preeee on an intended visit to Auckland, was not seriously injured, but so far has not returned from Te Kuiti. From information received it appears that Mr Preeee, who was driving. endeavoured to avoid a collision with another car. and ran into a bank, his car overturning and pinning down both oceunants.
