IBy Telegraph—Press Association.; WELLINGTON, March 26. Archibald Percy Clarke pleaded guilty to being a rogue and vagabond in that, he imposed on the Wellington Hospital Board by falsely representing he was a refugee of -Napier, and had lost his memory and was suffering from shock and hysteria.
It is not known if the man got to Napier and came hack on a relief train, or merely imposed himsdlf on the lied Cross Society when the train arrived at Wellington, hut the fact remains that he was kept at the hospital and sent to Porirua as. a voluntary patient, an<l thence hack again to the hospital. As no sign was found of insanity he went under an assumed name and, shamming insanity had a special room and attendants at the hospital. The cost of maintainig: him was £36 11s 2d. He had a substantial list of previous convictions and was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment.
