SUNDAY ASSEMBLIES, The Anglican Archbishop of New * Zealand, Dr. A. W. Averili has sent a message to all the Church of _ England clergy throughout the Dominion, askign "that Sunday, March 8, he observed as a special day of intercession for God’s guidance towards the solving of the unemployment problem. In accordance with the request, the vicar of St. Mary’s, Hawera, the Rev. J. R. Young, is arranging that all the sevices on Sunday shall centre round such intercession. He is inviting the Mayor and councillors and the members of the Unemployment committee and as many of the unemployed themselves as oan to come, to join in the evening service at 7 p.m. As the Archbishop points out in his letter, the occasion is particularly appropriate, in view of the summoning of the special session of Parliament, which will face the unemployment problem as one of its most important tasks. At the Hawera Baptist Church, Gunclay will bn observed as a special day of humiliation and prayer for wisdom and guidance in connection with the problem of unemployment. Appropriate reference will be made to this great problem at both services. In the morning Rev. Keith Ewcn will take as his subject "Our 'Refuge in days of Trouble’’ and in the evening "The Great Burden Bearer.’’ The public are specially invited. The Rev. R.. E. Efvans will conduct both services* at St. John’s Presbyterian Church, Hawera., to-morrow, and will deal with subjects appropriate to the “Gall to Prayer on behalf of Unemployment and kindred matters.”
