MOTORISTS’ BREACHES

HAWERA COURT CHARGES. Several prosecutions brought bv the police were dealt with by Mr J. H. Salmon, S.M., in the Hawera Magistrate’s Court this morning.* For having used a motor cycle without a front number plate, John Richter was fined £l, with 7s costs. Charged with tho unlawful conversion of a motor truck at Nou’manby on February 6, Eddie Nuku, a young Maori, pleaded guilty. A similar plea was-en-tered in regard to a charge of having had no driver’s license. Sergeant Henry stated that the truck belonged to defendant’s mother, who had complained to the police before knowing who had taken it. Defendant had driven it to New' Plymouth. Asked what, his motive had been, Nuku said that he had wanted to. see his “girl.” On the major charge defendant was convicted and ordered, to come up for sentence if called upon within six months. For having had no license lie was fined £l, with 15s costs. Entering a plea of guilty to a charge of negligently driving a motor car, Norah Emily Walker was fined £3, with 10s costs.
