At Stratford interesting play was contested on the Stratford and Avon greens yesterday, when the play-off took place for the. Campbell and MeL’D'owie. Cups for At and B players. After a; series of excellent contests Ivia O'rai (Haiweni) and Avon (Stratford) wore the respective winners. The greens wore in splendid condition and play was of a, high order and much enjoyed by competitors and spectators.. At the conclusion of play Mrs. Dowling made the presentation of the Campbell Cup and Mrs Half of the McL’Dowie Cup, both ladies complimenting the clubs on the fine play and thanking the? Stratford and Avon Clubs for the use of the lawns. Afternoon tea was served by the ladies of the local clubs. The results, were as follow: CAMPBELL CUP; First Wound. Pkrk (iHawera), Mesdames Harding, Shaw, Hey and Mr Eixley, heat Kapojiga, Mesdames Tait, Dawson, Brewer and Tuttcrmll, 26—7, 26 —29. Kia o'ra (Ha.wera), Mesdames Bull, Stevens, Evans and MoOlague, heat Okaiawa, Mesdames Johnstone, Penny, Ward and Baker, 26—8, 26—10. Semi-final. Park beat Waverley (Mesdames. Palmer, Pe/pner, Misses Cleary and McMeekin), 28—20, 28—23. Final. Kia! Ora beat Park, 26—9. MdL’DOWIEi CUP. First Round. Stratford (Mesdames Brocklebank and Bamford). beat Okaiawa: (Mesdames Thrush and Hollis); 26—5; Stratford (Mesdames Dickinson and Gatton) beat Okaiawa (Mr.s Shearer and Miss Washer), 26—34. . . Avon (Mesdames Wilson and Bulman. beat Opunake (Mesdames Ritchie and Grainger), 26—18; Avon (Mesdames Lamp-shire and Collingwood) beat Opunake (Mesdames Gunson and Brennan),, 26—9.
Semi-final. Stratford (Mesdames Arthur and Thomas) boat Eltha.m (Mesdames Peacock and Egnrr), 26 —7. Final. Avon brat Stratford-by one point.
