WHAKAMARA

EUCHRE AND DANCE. (From Our Own Correspondent.) A euchre party and dance in aid of the earthquake relief fund was held in the local hall last Friday evening. The attendance was not so large as was hoped for by the promoters; but nevertheless, with donations which have been received, will result in a fair sum being raised to help the fund. GENERAL. The local school picnic is to he held on Friday next at the Patea beach. The heavy rains of the last few days will do air immense amount of good to pastures and gardens, which were beginning to show signs of the spell of dry weather.
