The death of a 19-year-old freshman, Francis Ellis, who was found trussed and gagged w.it:i, a number of handkerchiefs m his bedroom at Sussex College, Cambridge, puzzled the police until •fair Bernard Spiisbury’s investigation convinced them that the tiaged) was the result of a students' rag. No sound was heard during the night and no sign of a struggle was evident. There were no strangers about the building, and it is believed the tightness of the knots when the body was found was due to rigor mortis. A man coukl not have so tied Ellis unaided.
