COMBINED CATTLE SHOW
ANNUAL MEETING OF DELEGATES SUCCESSFUL YEAR. REVIEWED. The Avork of the combined cattle show held at Auroa, Avas reviewed last night at the annual meeting of delegates from Otakeho, Auroa, AAvatuna and To Kill, Mr. H. R. Wood, president, being in tho chair and presiding over a good attendance. The statement of accounts wkoAved that there Avas a credit balance of £3 10s. Receipts: indluded donations £22 13s entry fees £9 15s, gates £4 19s, luncheon booth £8 14s 6d, sheep guessing £3 15s, social £4 12s. The principal items of expenditure Avere cups, etc., £ls 17s 3d; prize moneys £9; shoAV expenses £7 6s lid; sooial £3 3s 4di; advertising, etc.. £3 15s; refreshments £2 5s 6d.
The chairman in a brief report congratulated the members on the success achieved at the shoAA\ He stressed the fact that, though the year appeared to show a lesser balance of receipts over expenditure, there had been a larger sum than usual paid out for cups and prizes and that actually the year had been the best in the history of the societies controlling the shoAV. He cordially thanked members for hearty eo-c/peration in show. affairs and hoped that nil Avould put their best energies into the 193.1 show Avhicli was fixed for Saturday, March 14, at Auroa. He added that it was likely to he a hard time for all shows and that, therefore increased energy and! enthusiasm AA-ere required. It Avas suggested that Awatuna should ha% r e March 7, and Auroa March 11, Avhile Otakeho had fixed on March 4. Mr. H. C. Sampson and. failing him Air. C. E. Robertson. Avill he asked to act as judge of cattle at ihe combined shoAV and! Mr. G. Ford fsr horses. A noAv class, for 3-year-old heifer in milk. Ava-s added to the list of events for the show. The election of officers resulted as follows: President. Mr. H. R. Wood; secretary and Treasurer. Mr. IT. Hartley: auditor, Mr. E. C. Gave. An honorarium of £2 2s AA’as \x>ted to Air. Ha.rfllev as a slight appreciation of his sendees.
