FEET REQUIRE CARE
How necessary it is for all stock owners to watch the feet of their live stock. Cattle never look nor feel their best if they are suffering from overgrown hoofs, and many a good bull has had his usefulness, curtailed because his | hoofs have not been kept sufficiently pared back, and thus, in course of time, has not been able to perform the functions for which he is kept. Ewes and lambs require much looking after at the present time, for, j after they have come out of the lambing yard, they often show signs of being lame, and then it is necessary to attend to their feet, pare them back and dress .them with foot-rot dressing. Even pigs suffer from their feet, and many a heavy old brood sow lias gone lame simply because she suffers from corns. The really expert herdsman seems to realise this fact before the feet have become too overgrown for treatment, and some of them will spend hours down on their knees beside the sow cutting out the corns and getting the feet right. With regard to horses, one can only say, “No foot, no horse,” which surely is one of the most practical bits of wisdom that can be quoted.
