WORSHIP OF THE CROCODILE A SANCTUARY DISCOVERED WEIRD PRACTICES OF CULT. (United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph Copyright.! Received 2.1 a p.m. to-day. LONDON, Feb. 18. ‘“The Times’” correspondent says that for the first time in the history ot Egyptian excavation a complete sanctuary of the crocodile god Sokonfis, discovered by an Italian archaeological and unearthed in the temple of Tebtinis, in thq Fayum district, w ill enable a reconstruction of the weird practice of this strange cult which Greek and Roman tourists paid special visits to observe. The expedition found a paved court, flanked bv four buildings, probably chambers, wherein the priests awaited the divine inspiration, w-hich was the main concern of the crocodile gods The servants' entrances were decorated with statues of lions and sphinxes. At the end of the sacred way is the main limestone temple, the portals whereof are flanked with the statue ot a Pharaoh and a sleeping lion. Copiously adorned paintings are sunk in relief.
