A tore settled weather is hci»a experienced, now, than was ®h° case during last month. The month oi January was exceptionally changeable with westerly winds and showers, which must have affected the quality of the hay crops. Feed is accordingly looking very well and unless a dry spell sets in there should be plenty oi rough feed''to help'tide the stock over the autumn months. The supply of milk is keeping up well owing to the abundance or grass, and should help to compensate iarmers in some measure for the low prices The marriage took iilace at the Hawera Presbyterian Church on «J anuary •JS of Miss May Bond and Mr. fck Bond, of Cambridge. The bride, who "as given away by Mr. A. Wriglcy, resided in Whakamara for some time. the bridesmaid was Miss Olivo Beau low and the best man Mr. It. Bond. Air. and Mrs. Bond left the same day lor their future home at Cambridge. Air.’ and Mrs. J. Hodges junr., of Sydney, and Airs. Hodges., of AVanganui spent a few days with Mrs. A. A. AVrigley and Airs. J. Hobson, Whakamara. , , , Air. and Airs. S. C. Field, who at one time resided in Whakamara, were the quests of Airs. S. Buckrell during the Master Coran Buckrell, who has been suffering from a broken leg, is progressing favourably. ... " (f wen da the httle daughter of All. and Mrs. J. Potter, is recovering from an illness in the public hospitalAirs. H. Le Fleming, who has also been an inmate of the hospital, has now returned to her home. . , Air and Mrs. Buchanan, of the local school, spent tfce holidays m Wellington and Palmerston districts. Air A. Meuli, who has suffered a long illness, is still gradually improving in health. „ .. , T Air and Mi’s. J. Bndgeman are stayincr with' Air. and Airs. Bangley. Although no damage has been reported here the district felt a. severe shake I ;l t the time of the disastrous earthquake Many lady residents who were alone at the'time, were much alarmed. Residents here feel the greatest sympathy for the sufferers of the stricken area, and will be eager to do their nit in helping the afflicted ones.
