The general synod of the Anglican Church passed the following resolutions at Christchurch last night: “That this synod invites the leaders of nonepiscopal churches to confer with representatives of our church with a view to exploring the possibilities of reunion, and that representatives of the Anglican Church be appointed by the Primate as the occasion may require in consultation with the bishop of the diocese where such conference or conferences may take place.”

The total number of live births registered for urban areas during January amounted to 1105, compared with 1126 in December, a decrease of 21. Deaths in' January were 494, a decrease of 96 compared with the previous month. Of the total deaths males contributed 258 and females 236. Forty-six of the deaths were of children under five years of age, being 9.31 per cent, of the whole number, and 38 of these- were under one year of age.
