ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY
OBSERVATION OF JUPITER. The monthly meeting of the Hawera Astronomical Society was held last evening at the observatory, 15 Argyle Street. Air A. H. Larkin an, A. M.1.M.8. m-esided over a fair attendance of members. The visibility being good, the evening was devoted to observational work on Jupiter and its moons, and the constellation of Orion, under the guidance of the director, Air. G. M. Townsend, E.A.A.S., who gave an interesting talk .•hi the (special features of interest. After a general discussion the meeting adjourned. The next meeting will he held on the second -Monday in March, when any t.cr.son interested in astronomy and wishing to become, a member is cor--1 i-i.l 1 v invited to attend.
