Disaster has ■overtaken the Japanese .steamer, Shansei Mam, which was stranded yesterday on a reef 13 miles from Point Coates, also the sister vessel, Chufuku Maru, which went to her assistance. The latter struck a reef 12 miles from Hie Shansei Maru and is sinking. Wireless messages reporting their plight have been received by navigation authorities in Western Australia, but it is difficult to obtain details owing to the captain’s unfamiliarity with the English language. The masters of both vessels state that the crews are in no immediate danger. They are awaiting instructions from the owners at Kobe. A later message says that the Ohufuku’s crew lias abandoned the ship •md lias been transferred to the Shansei Maru, which is severely damaged and is humping on the reef.
