LIFTING OF LINES. CLEAN! NG-ITP OPERATIONS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AVELLINGTON, Jan. 14. Hon. E. A. Ransom explains that the lifting of the rails on the stopped railway works at Gisborne is only part of cleaning-up operations with a view to making sure that there will be no deterioration of material. A certain number of rails would have to be lifted in order to preserve them.
