COUNTRY CLUBS' PROTEST
(United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright.)
SYDNEY, Jan. 5,
The betting tax is so seriously affecting attendances and the volume of belting that numbers of country racing clubs in New South Wales have decided to abandon racing while the Lang Government is in office.
MR. LANG’S REPLY"
The Prime* Minister, Mr. J. T. Lang, stated that lie had noticed considerable propaganda against the betting tax. and complaints of dwindling attendance at race meetings. This he felt was an argument in favour of the curtailment of racing. He therefore would invite his colleagues to agree to a. reduction of meetings <ini the area, tvhich possibly would lead to* better attendances at those which would be permitted.
