SAND-BAGGED AND ROBBED
RESTAURENTEUR INJURED.
EARLY r MORNING CAR RIDE.

A. M. Baird, a middle-aged restaurenteur, was assaulted and robbed off two days’ takings (£6B) about 1.30 o’clock on New Year’s morning. He went home in a taxi in which two other men were passengers. \ All left the taxi at Baird’s gate and. he wished the others a happy New Year. He says that he was then sandbagged and robbed of the bag containing the money. The taxi in the meantime had gone on. He shouted for help and some people, including his wife, who was at a party across the road, came out and picked him up, suffering from two black eyes and a broken nose.
