Collins had been given the administration of Australia House under the High Commissioner, Sir Granville Ryrie. Eater the positions of financial adviser and official secretary wifi be amalgamated, saving £2OOO a year. The economic adviser later will receive £IOOO instead of £2OOO, plus £SOO from the Dried Fruits Board.
Positions that have been abolished include that of chief clerk, saving £I3OO. assistant chief clerk, Having £554, and hospitality officer, saving £7OB.
Other retrenchments, including the sale of one motor car, will save £2591, making a total of £7553. Approval has been given to economies in office space, making a room the estimated value of which is £I6OO a year available for letting. Mr. Collins has been instructed to undertake additional reforms.
