Mrs W. J. Poison, of Stratford, visited Hawera to-day. A London message reports the death of Mr Walter Baker, aged 54, Labour M.P. for East Bristol since 1923. Miss Ballantine returned to Hawera last evening after an extended trip abroad, during which she visited England, United States and the Continent. She was met on the station and welcomed by a large number of /Girl Guides and Guiders. The death of Mr M. .T. Connington, a member of the New vSouth Wales Legislative Council, a leading union advocate in the industrial courts and a former member of the Sydney Board of Trade, is reported by cable from Sydney.
