* AN ASHBURTON CENTENAiRIAN. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) ASHBURTON, Oct. 29. Mrs. Sarah Iresize to-day celebrated her 101st birthday, having been born at Croydon, England, in 1829. With her first husband:, Alfred Blackburn, she landed at Lyttelton in June, 1863, hi the sailing vessel Metropolis, after a 101-day voyage. Mr. Blackburn Was appointed stationmaster at Templeton iii 1866 and afterwards was at Rakaia for 18 years. Mrs. Tresiz© maintains a wonderful vitality and retains most of her faculties.
