The Hawera Golf Club was treated to excellent weather conditions for the concluding day ol' the annual tournament and the decision of the South Taranaki championship yesterday. The honour went to G. M. Chong, of New Plymouth, who played good golf throughout'and fully deserved his win. The Fairfield Handicap went to J. N. Anderson, of Hawera, and the Tertius to G. M. Hughes, of Patea. Both did exceedingly well all the time. Durino; the day there were a number of excellent contests. In the semifinal of the Fairfield, C. O. Pratt beat W. G. Sutton at the 19th, and in the final Anderson won from Pratt on the 18th green. In the Tertius, E. P. Cox went to the 20tn in the semi-final before he beat Fuller.

At the conclusion of the day the trophies were presented by the captain of the club, Mr R. C. Hay-Mac-kenzie. He cordially thanked the clubs of the province for their strong support given, which had gone a long way in securing the success achieved. He paid a tribute to the greenkeeper, Mr McGill, and to Mrs McGill for so efficiently superintending the arrangel mentis for catering. He also apologised for the unavoidable absence of the president (Mr W. O’Callaghan) and vice-president (Mr A. Blair). The trophies were presented to the winners by Mrs J. A. Dalgetty. Speaking for the visitors, Mr R. H. Quilliam, cantain of the New Plymouth Club, said that the Haw era Club was to be congratulated on the success of I the tournament and that the club ■ owed much to the good work of the tournament committee and to the able , and courteous secretary (Mr L. J. ' Bull). He concluded by adding congratulations to the club on the great improvements made on the course.
