BUSINESS OF PARLIAMENT
PRIVATE BILLS CONSIDERED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Oct, 25. The House of Representatives met at, 0.30 o’clock this morning. The acting-P'rime Minister intimated that it was intended to take six private members’ Bills on the understanding that they took no more than a Quarter of an hour each.
The following were put through committee with minor amendments: Divorce and Matrimonial Causes Amendment (Mr. H. G. R.. Mason), Destitute Persons Amendment (Mr. W. E. Barnard), Property'Law Amendment (Mr. Mason). The Local Elections, and Polls Amendment Bill No. 2 (Mr. J. McCombs) and the Electric Power Boards and Supply Authorities’ Association Bill (Mr. J. A. Nash) were also put through committee. All five Bills were read a third time and passed. Mr. R. A. Wright moved the second reading of the New Zealand Institute of Architects Amendment Bill which, however was withdrawn in the face of opposition. The remainder of tlie morning was devoted to the presentation of reports fyom select committees. The House adjourned at 1 p.m. till the ringing of bells.
