HAWERA TRACK NOTES. (By “Limited.") Showery weather and a bitterly cold wind were the conditions obtaining at the Hawera course this morning. The outside of the course proper was again open for fast work. The going was heavy and times correspondingly slow. The Acre gelding in C. Jackson’s stable will be known on the race tracks as Garrick, and this fellow and Gasfield weut a rousing working gallop without essaying to make time. Kiosk and Chief Link galloped five furlongs together and there was little between them at the finish in 1.9 1-5. Silvermine went a strong working gallop over once round, coming home smartly over the last two furlongs. Bonogne came home the last three furlongs of a useful work out in 421sec.

Gowanlea and Prince Desmond finished up together over half-a-mile iu 544 sec.

Silver Rule did a couple of rounds of half-pace work on the sand. The maiden Double Red was also exercised on the sand at half pace. Banbridge and Orazone were companions from the seven-furlong post, but were not hurried over the first part. The pair finished up a useful gallop together in 1.43. Isa was given a round at a good three-quarter pace. Pikimai galloped a mile in 1.58 J by himself and should race well at the Waikato.

Green Linnet had Kilting as a companion in a sprint over four furlongs and finished a .shade in front in 554 sec.

Bright Glow was out doing light exercise.

Miss Sheff was doing better than Bon Eve in a gallop over five furlongs occupying 1.13. Two maidens. Kissless and Zadarino, worked over half-a-mile in 57 sec.

Over a mile Joyspear finished a head in front of Gasnapper, the journey occupying 1.56). The following horses were hooked to leave this morning by the mail train for Trentham: Havering (J. Corcoran), Awaken (J. Brown), lloyal Acre (AI. Conway), Calapat (F. Bluett), and Bright Glow (J. Fryer). F. Gerrand is to ride Awaken, L. Dulieu Royal Acre, and A. E. Ellis probably Bright Glow.

Merton Pine, the local lightweight who was successful in winning the Timaru Cup on Don Jose and a race on Pixie .Gold, will be riding at Trentham. His mounts include Courageous, Admiral Drake, Pass On and Gueress. Pine returns in time to ride at Waverley on Monday.
