HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

The annual spring show conducted by the Eltham Horticultural Society was continued in the Town Hall last night. There was a good attendance ol' exhibitors and! the public generally. The cups and trophies won by the various exhibitors were presented by the Mayor (Mr I. J. Bridget-), who congratulated the society on maintaining the high standard of exhibits, especially in the daffodil section, which, he felt sure, compared with any nlace in the Dominion.

The following trophies were presented : Solid silver cup valued .at £ls 15s, Mr Robert Gibson, of Manaia (this class was open to amateur and professional exhibitors); the Taranaki amateur champion shin cun for 12 varieties' of daffodlis, Mr 'll. Lewis. Mr Lewis also received trophies for collection of 12 varieties in all divisions and for the ehampon bloom of the show. Master L. Lewis received the cun for the noints prize in the children’s section. Mrs A. Phillips, of Hawera, received a trophy for the points prize in tho preserves and pickles department. Patty Cooper won the trophy for children under 12 years in the decorative section, and Doreen Pepperoll in the decorative section for children under 14 years also received a trophy.
