interest in the demonstrations <jf the destruction of ragwort which are being held in various parts of the district-, has shown a very satisfactory quickening amongst the farmers and the results have been noted with keen interest.

Yesterday Mr. Denize and Mr. Graibb. cf the Agriculture Department, went out to Auroa in the morning and to River lea in the afternoon. They were intensely pleased with the enthusiasm shown, when over 40 farmers assembled at Mr. T. Blair’s farm, on the Auroa Road and over 50 at Air. J. A. Syme’s farm at Riverlea. Air. Denize in some introductory remarks stressed the need of constant work and asked fo*r. the cordial co-operation of all farmers. The demonstrations were followed by a number of questions and altogether a very interesting time was spent. Speaking to a “Hawera Star” representative Air. Crabb said, that the greatest satisfaction was felt at the results on Air. Bosson’s farm on the Dutliie Road. AVhen the spraying was wet and, in consequence, they were not certain whether the remedy would ha effective. However, lie went again to the farm and found that the plants sprayed were, despite the rain, completely destroyed. Air. Bosson was delighted and ~ expressed the greatest satisfaction with the. results, which were much more effective than he could have, hoped. He is a keen advocate of the use of the remedy.
