A bitterly cold southerly made things unpleasant for training operations'this morning, but the wind had dried up the track and the going was much faster than yesterday. Laughing Prince was worked before breakfast and ran four furlongs well within himself in 49 2-ssec.
Avro and Ruanui finished together at. the end of four furlongs run in 49 2-5 sec. Cadland equalled the latter time by himself. 'Historic and Panther ran seven furlongs in 3.321, Lineage five in 1.3 3-5, Tourist six in 1.18 2-5, and Black Mint half-a-mile in 50 4-ssee. After breakfast Hinawai sprinted half-a-mile in olsec., beating a companion by three lengths. Blimp did better than Adventus over seven furlongs run in 1.354. Simba and My Own went half-a-mile in 50sec., finishing together. Arrowzone and Ganpat finished toigether at the end of half-a-mile in 49 3-osec. Autopay and Jayson covered five furlongs in 1.3. Veronese went half-a-mile, the last three furlongs taking 38 2-ssee. Eastertime went well in a sprint up the straight. Huntingdon and a companion ran five furlongs in 1.3. Arrow Lad ran half-a-mile in 49 4-5 see.
Sbortlv and Annover fan seven in 1.314.
Useful work was done by Star Stranger, Cylinder, Toxeuma, Limosin, Auckland Gas, Luminary, Ceremony, Pomp, Courageous, Lady Quex, and a number of others. WANGANUI SCRATCHINOS.
Thunderstorm has been scratched for the Maiden Handicap, and Wild Country for the Doric Hack.

J. Fryer’s team, comprising Mendip, Mount Shannon, Prince Desmond, Gowanlea and Bright Glow' left by early train this morning to compete at- Wanganui. J. Brown also sent Silvermine and Biflcx. J. Thacker, with Kawhakina and Hopwood, and J. Butler witli'old Yoma, were passengers by the express. O. Cox’s The Warden and the two-year-olds Summertime and Hampdes, M. Conway’s Joyspear and Royal Acre, and W. Pine’s Tcntcall and Calamine were to go. by later trains. Banbridge and Gasnapper may go down for Saturday’s racing. M. Pine is to ride Hopwood in the Scafield Handicap, and this gelding is expected to retrieve his reputation somewhat.
