The staff had to work long hours on most days and theie had been a good deal of sickness among the nurses.' This necessitated securinghelp - GENERAL.

In. considering the question as regards the Patoa Public Hospital the board had! in the meantime decided to coni inuo its approval of the hospital being considered a. Grade A training school, but was of opinion that there ■as not sufficient clinical material to provide the necessary experience for trainees to justify its remaining one. The Department of •Health had been asked for ;v report on. the institution with regard to its fulfilling requirements as a training school for nurses. The chairman stated that since the previous meeting Dr Shore, assistantdirector of health, had visited the hospital and had made inquiries about- suggested additional accommodation being supplied for the staff. Dr Shore cl expressed himself as satisfied that idditional accommodation was, necessary.

The Waverley Town Board advised that Mr H. Middleton had been elected its representative to the board.

The offer of £.50 by Mr Warren, trustee for the Hunter Shaw estate, awards the cost of an asphalt tennis ■curb at the hospital, provided the board subsidised the amount by £-50, vas accepted. A letter expressing the board’s, aprcenition of the gift is to he sent to Mr Warren.

The purchase of a, new mower was left to the chairman.

It was agreed to leave in the hands of the chairman and Mr Christensen tin* -procuring of an extra porter for vcrk re-nnd the hospital*!.
