Dr. L. J. Connie, a New Zealander, who was well known in meteorological circles in Wellington for some years, has been appointed superintendent of tlio British Nautical Almanac in succession to Dr. P. H. Cowell. Dr. Comrie had experience in American observatories before joining the British Nautical Almanac Office.

Bennett and - ton have just received a letter from me Home firm stating that they had met Mr, and Mrs. Betts at the Boyal Manchester show and had next day welcomed them at their engineering wus at Leigh. Mr. Harrison, m a letter, stated that it had been a pleasure to have Mr. and Mrs. Bettsi with them and that the visit appeared to have, been enjoyed by the Dominion vistors.
