RELIEVING UNEMPLOYMENT
EFFORTS 'IN WELLINGTON.: expenditure of funds. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Aug. 23. The Mayor of Wellington stated t*» a deputation of over 100 unemployed today that every effort would be made to sueed up "the expenditure of the funds in hand for the relief of unemployment. He saw no reason why 100 could not be engaged. Ajs many worKs as possible would be put in .hand. At the same time the Mayor stressed that the Wellington City Council had done more than any other municipality to relieve distress. The Government should Place the burden on the right shoulders • the ratepayers were beoomino- restive at their accumulating load.
