CHRISTCHURCH. Aug. fi. To-day’s stack sale* at the Addington yards was the Grand' National “dbu.blr*” market, which is noted for fine* offerings' of fat stock, and* this year ;suw the general standard well maintained, with tire exception perhaps of fat sheep, the .yarding of which did' not include the same proopi'tlon of show sheep* as lias been the case in previous years.

The feature of the market was the fat cattle yarding which drew entries front Wanganui. Palmerston. North,, Wairaraipa, West Coast*. Otago ami Southland districts. The* fat lamb entry was the largest 'for many weeks and the sale was a good one* 1 at slightly advanced rates. There were 31 spring lambs entered, but they were not* outstanding in quality. The store sheep sale was a, relatively unimportant section of the market and it attracted very little* interest. The chief feature of the minor sections of the market* was the very high price paid for porkers, which were in -short supply. Most sales were made on a basis oif lid to Is a lb. the highest price* known at Addington for about 30 years. Good cows were worth, up to* about £5 and the few bulls elfered sold at the usual potting ' l atd>. No steers were penned. Quality was not prominent in the daily cattle* entry which wins of an average size. The market* was a little weaker, prices receding by about £1 a head.
