THRUSTS AT BOTH SIDES. .M R CLINKARD BLAMES AND EXCUSES. (By Telegraph—Special to “The Star. ’) WELLINGTON, Aug. 6, Election" propaganda and eaten-cries were spiritedly dealt with by Air O. H. Uli.nka.rd (Rotorua) during the- financm-al debate in the- House to-day. After declaring that the utterances q-f the- late Prime Minister concerning the £70,000,000 -10-an had been mo-re distorted than any -other public- statements, Air Clin-kard drew a full-page e-leotion advertisement from his desk -and proceeded to read: “Put in the man who get-s things dbne.” Air D. Jones. (Midi-Ganterbuiry): Don t you believe in that? Air -Olinkard (looking round for Air Coates, who was seated next to Mr Savage in the front- Labour benches): By w-lio-se authority was, this printed ? 1,3. the Rt. Hon. gentleman here Air ,T. O’Brien (Westland): He has joined the Labour Party. (Laughter). ' Air Olinkard': Listen to this : “Wrap the flag round me, boys.” Ido not say that the Rt. Hon. ge-nalt-man did not do- his duty at _ the front, but- he did it. in ooivmwm with thousands of ot-betr boys.” This side -of the House is foist as' loyal as any other side. Mr Olinkard: Because in my opinion it was a disoreditable publication to put, out. (Reform laughter). He added that the United members were not individually and personally responsible for all the things -put put at the- last election. The same man who put -out tlie statement that he wa-s displaying, nut out things on the- United Larty s side, for which it was net- responsible “1 was ever identified with anv of these so-called promises put out.” Air Chnkard concluded
