BEAL R, HADDON TO STAND THREE 'CANDIDATES POSSIBLE (By Teicffrapvi—Press Association.) ‘ NEW PLYMOUTH, Aug.-4. ‘Beiv. Robert Tabu P. Haddon, a- close associate of the late Sir Maui Pomarc in Maori reform movements and' other fields of endeavour, has been persuaded to accept nomination and contest the vacant seat in the Western Maori electoral district.

Inquiries revealed to-day that this decision of Mr iHaddon will result in the probability of three candidates entering the field. ■ ......... E,a tana’s followers have selected a candidate, while another prominent Maori, Taite 'Tome, of Taupo, also has accepted nomination. •Mr Hadden is superintendent of the Methodist Maori Mission, and has .been engaged as a minister for the past 30 years. A great influence will he wielded by the lead of To R.ata, the accepted “King” of the Waikato, and big conferences' are .being held in the YTaikato during the next few days, commencing at Waihi.

Princess To Phase, of Waikato, lias intimated that she will give her support to the Taranaki candidate if the nomination is clear cut.

It has been revealed that Mr Haddon had been asked to stand previously, 'before Sir Maui Pomare accepted the nomination. (He made his filial decision regarding the present contest when tine elders" of the Ngarauraax and Ngatirnonui (South Taranaki) tribes requested him to stand. Mr Had don is a grand nhpheiwi of the famous Titokowaru.
