CAR STRUCK BY TRAIN

VETERINARY I SURGEON INJURED (By Telegraph—Press Association.) OUEirSTGUUECU, Aug. 4. James Stafford, a. veterinary surgeon living at iS'pringston, suffered injuries to the head when his- 'car was struck by; a Christchurch-bound express train at Dunsandiel at 4.30 this evening. The car was passing over the level-crossing when the train struck it, carrying it 20 yards. Stafford l was rendered unconscious and received' medical attention on the spot. lie was brought to Christ church in the guard’s van. He recovered 'consciousness and was able to walk to the ambulance. He was admitted' to hospital.
