LARGE SUBMARINES
ORANGE OF VIEW IN AMETROiOA LESSER 'ORIAFT FAVOURED (United Pres? Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright). WASHINGTON, Aug. 3. Naval officials indicated that the United; 'States may abandon a. large fleet of submarines in .favour of smaller subniersibl.es suitable for e'oa.'stul defences.
The Navy General Board is understood to be having difficulty to determine how to utilise to the ibest advantage the tonnage allotted to the United States in submarines by the London Treaty.
The general, opinion seems to be against larger submersLblos.
