BAIN PREVENTS PLAY. SHORTER HOURS FOR FINAL TEST? The fourth cricket Te_st was abandoned owing to heavy rain. : The result, therefore, is a draw. AVhen stumps were drawn last evening England had reached 251 for the loss of eight wickets, in reply to Australia’s first innings score of 345. Mr Kelly, manager of the Australian team, lias made representations to the M.C.C. requesting shorter hours for the finhl Test—an hour less daily—because the match will bo played to a finish.
Mr Bennison, in the “Daily Telegraph,” says England does not derive any satisfaction from the state of the game. The English batting as a whole was unconvincing and surprisingly unsteady. It was amazing that with such weather 19,511 people paid £2700 for admission.
