TX 'OPERATION NEXT MONTH

An assurance that it iwould be possible 4‘or New Zealanders to talk to Australia by telephone before the end of August was given by the Post-master-general ('Hon. J. B. Donald') in opening the new Napier post office this morning. The rates 1 1 ad not yet been decided on, said Mr. Donald, but preparations were well in lvand for the institutioni of the lrans-Tasmani telephone service. Mr. Donald! 'was presented- with a gold key as a souvenir of the occasion bv the Ma'yqr (Mr. I. Vigor Bi-olwn).
