Copyright.) Received. 11.45 a.m. to-day. PARIS, July 2/. In the Davis Oup remaining singles Borotra beat Lott. 5 —7, 6—3, 2—6, 6—2, B—6;8 —6; and Gochefc beat Tilden, 4—-6, 6 —3, 6 —l, 7 —5. France thus won four matches to one and retains the cup. In the presence of 12,000 at Auteuil Lott and Borotra played the crucial match. Lott started well, but the Frenchman steadied and won. the second set. Lott dominated the third, but Borotra, spurred on by the prospect of defeat, played superbly, driving and -smashing the American all over the court. The final set was full of thrills, although Lott made mistakes, and Borotra won with unapproachable baseline drives amid yells of enthusiasm. The Oochet and Tilden match was a fine exhibition, but Cochet had his opponent at ills mercy after the end of the second set.
