Mr Parker reported that he had; been at the annual meeting of the Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs and had promised that he would urge the .association to put on one or mere classes dealing with. tiiet work of the- clubs. The -chairman said he would favour -devoting a -sum with that object- m The secretary advised that a. nienrber brad 'promised a subscription when any fiuch classes were arranged- , , hlr Parker suggested allotting medals. It- was decided to leave the matter m the hands of the schedule committee. OPENING THE 1930 SHOW. Mr H. G. Dickie, M.P., wrote advising that he would be very glad to assist, mlsecuring His Excellency Tend Bledisloe to open the 1930 show. Tie said it would he necessary to forward an invitation through his ofiicial secretary, Mr A C Day. He added that it would be advisable to ask the Mayor to join in the invitation and that he hoped to hcivc an early opportunity of 01 sens sing the matter with His Excellency. | ;It- was reported! by the secretary that the Mavor had, consented to join m the invitation as chief citizen of the town. GENERAL. The district supervisor of the Rural Intermediate Credit Beard (Mr G--Freyberg) advised the issue, for public subscription, of debentures to the value of £IOO,OOO, and forwarded three copies of the prospectus—The letter was duly acknowledged,. It was agreed that a return he prepared of the rents received from the lease of thte committee-room for the past year, as suggested by Mr Tonks, who said that he considered it necessary for some method of heating to be installed. m , The secretary of the Taranaki Rugby, Union wrote regarding a suggested meeting of representatives of the union and of, the association to consult regarding the purchase of a portion of the showgrounds by the union. He stated that the union would agree to a conference at as early a date as possible. . ~ Letters were received irony the Southdown Sheep Society, allotting a gold medal for the best two-tooth Southdown ram from a registered flock, and from the Milking Shorthorn Association granting a sum of £2 2s for prizes for Shorthorn classes, | an d £1 Is each for yearling bull and heifer, the exhibits to be registered or eligible for registration in the herd 1 book and to be judged by an official iudo-e.—lt was decided to forward a letter of thanks to each association. The president and treasurer were appointed to sign showground leases on behalf of the association. Mr. O. V- Church (Hawera) and Mr C. Thurston (Kapuni) were elected members.
