BURGLARY AT NAPIER
THIEA T ES’ DETERMINED AVORK. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) NAPIER/. July 26. A clever burglary, apparently by an experienced gang, was perpetrated last night at the premises of Elli-son and Duncan, AVaghorno Street, Port Ahuriri. Three solid timber and steel doors were opened with a crowbar, the strong-room -door being treated in the same fashion. A -safe weighing seven cwt. was lifted off its stand- in the strong-room and carried into a passage where the hinges, threfe-quarters of an inch through, were cut clean with a hacksaw. A quantity of money and cheques were taken. The place was ransacked and the thieves made a, meal of pork and beans. They also broke -in, fa (wind cellajr, i)vhor;o they .procured bottled beer.
