When a distinguished ' stranger arrived at Montpelier, W.N.W. of Marseilles, saying that he was the new general commanding the garrison, the guard turned out in his honour and a special parade of troops was ordered for inspection. He rode away on a bicycle, carrying a flag bearing the name of Clemeneeaii. The authorities are wondering whether Ihe is a. spy, a hoaxer, or a lunatic.
