CANADIAN WHEAT
THIS SEASON’S CROPS TWO POOR PROVINCIAL CROPS POOL’S MARKETING! POLICY. (United Preea Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) Received 10.30 a.m. to-day. OTTAWA, July 10. The Canadian wheat pool lias advised tlie Australian Press Association that while the pool is not issuing any crop reports this season, except confidential reports to their directors and to officials of tlie Canadian Government, reports, however, indicate that while good yields are promised in Manitoba, crops in Saskatchewan and Alberta have been seriously damaged by high winds and drifting soil and by a deficiency of sub-soil moisture, accentuated by recent extremely hot. weather.
The jiool stated that there were usual rumours that it was in desperate straits, but this would be emphatically denied by banking and Government officials. The pool was adding, steadily to its membership, and its marketing policies, in an exceedingly trying period, were endorsed by such unprejudiced authorities as the Montreal Board of Harbour Commissioners. Officials stated that the Harbour Board report asserted: “Tlie pool has conducted an extremely tactful and skilful merchandising programme throughout two singular crop years.”
