‘ ‘UNAUTHORISED PRACTICES. ’ ’.
ELECTRIC ATMOSPHERE:
(By Telegraph—Press Association). HAMILTON, July 9 The* atmosphere was electric at the Waikato Diocesan Synod to-day, when Mr P. Gibson (Okato) moved a resolution protesting, against “unauthorised practices* of clergy in the diocese, and that synod records an emphatic protest against* the actions of those clergy who by their flouting of the rules and regu--lat ions of t-he* Oliurcli and their persistence in the use of unauthorised practices' are gravely prejudicing the church in the eyes of the people, and are aiso the cause of reflections being cast upon the honesty and honour of individual members, clerk, and lay alike*. . Immediately Mr Gibson finished speaking the Vicar-General (Arclideacon G. G. Bell), who presided, rose and pointed out* that at that stage the motion came under the category of contenious matter, and he accordingly ruled it out of order. Mr Gibson said he would bring the matter up at a later stage.
