KIA ORA CLUB. ANN UAL MEIETING. Tlie work of the year of the Kin Ora Croquet Club was reviewed at the annual meeting last evening, Mrs L. J. Bull presiding. The report for the season was as follows : “We have pleasure in presenting the second annual report and balance-sheet, and in doing so congratulate members' on the completion of’ a. very successful year. It is with regret that we have to record the death of one of our oldest members, the late Mrs Glasson. also the death of another member, the late Miss Stewart, and to their relatives our deepest sympathv is extended. In the early part of the, year Mrs Dowling found it necessary to '•esign the secretaryship. This position she had held for a number of years. Her resignation was accepted with regret, and a hearty vote of thanks was recorded for her work for tlie club- in the past “The membership of tlie club is as follows: . 41 active, three country members. 38 honorary. The sum of £93 16s 8d lias been raised during the year hv special efforts of the members. “During the year the club lent the lawns to the South Taranaki Association for their annual tournament. At this tournament, Mrs Bull won the South Taranaki ladies' championship, and holds the Stoddart Cup for the second time. Tlie Ivia Ora team played in the finals of the Campbell Cup. “During the season the play has been good, many of the B grade players becoming A players. Good progress was made bv the new members. Each week competitions for A and B players were held for Dingle Buttons. Competitions were also held for the Dowling Buttons for six to eight bisque players and Gold Ferns for six and less bisque players. The following are tlie results for tlie 1929-30 season : —Championship singles : A. grade, Mrs McKay; runnerup. Mrs Stevens; R grade, Mrs Meyriek; runner-up. Mrs Guy; C grade, Mrs Buckorkkre; rnnner-up, Miss Johnstone. Handicap singles: Mrs McKay. Handicap doubles, Mesdames Mevriek and Winks. “The thanks of the club are due to Mr J. G. Bavley for his work in connection with the club, to Mr Bull for his work in connection with tlie grounds, and the Press and all others who have assisted us during tire past venr. We wish to thank the tea committee (Mesdames Guv. Murdoch and 'damson for the manner in which tbev '•nr.ried out their duties during the year.”
