Allison ((America) beat Moon '(Australia), (i—l, 6—3, 6—3. Crawford and ILpmaiii '(Australia) had easy victories. 'Malfrov (Xew Zealand) heat Gasliui (Italy), 6—3, 6—l, 6—l. 'Cocliet (France) beat Timmcr '(Holland), 6—4, 9—ll, 4—6, 6—4, 6—2. Other winners included Tilden, Brugnon and Austin. ’However hard Willard drove, the cross-wind took off the pace. Nevertheless. Andrews, with greater knowledge of the conditions,’ undoubtedly played magnificently, notably bringing off side-line cross-court winners. Willard! put up a great fight in the second set, until the Xew Zealander evened with five all.
