SCOTTISH SOCIETY. The first of the local Scottish Society’s series of .socials during the winter months was held in the Foresters’ Hall on Tuesday, Chieftain Kettles presiding. In extending a hearty welcome to those present Mr. Kettles intimated that the society intended holding a social once a month for about eight months. Tlie next would be held on the second Tuesday in June. He hoped they would all be able to start punctually at 8 o’clock. A splendid programme' wa.s then rendered, the following taking part: Bagpipe solo, Mr. J. Clarkson; Community .song, “Loch Lomond”; song, Mrs. McDonald; violin solo, Miss Sutherland; song, Mr. Langslow; talk on Scottish history, Mr. C. V. Whittington ; song, “Ye Banks and Braes,” Betty Hislop; quartette, Miss Reid, Messrs. J. Clarkson, K. Christiansen, and A. G. Reid.
