BUILDING TRADES
AWARD FOR MARLBOROUGH. (By Telegrapn- Press Association.) BLENHEIM, May 29. A Conciliation Council sat here to consider the building trades’ award for Marlborough. An award was sought embracing all branches of the building trade, including plumbers, electricians, painters and other tradesmen, and the negotiations involved protracted discussions. The outcome of the proceedings was that all the points in dispute were settled to the satisfaction pf all parties, with the exception of wages. An arrangement was arrived at for the parties to consider the question of wages further in private, and it is understood! that there is every possibility of an agreement being reached without recourse; to the intervention of the Arbitration Court. When an understanding is arrived at the whole. matter will ho referred to the Arbitration Court far the purpose of the formal making of an award. The Conciliation Commissioner (Mr P. Hally) presided. Mr C. G. Camp (of the New Zealand: Employers’ Federation). with Messrs R. V. Bythell, A. Wan den and J. A. Leslie, represented the employers, and Mr. B. White, with Messrs G. Saul and J. Cruickshank, represented the workers.-
