' The recent rain, together with the cleaning of the fairways ne;tr the greens, has improved the playing condition of the course considerably. It is certainly much better playing pit the improved' tees. We are still using one or two temporary tees, however, and have been doing so for quite a while now; it is surely time we had something better.
The gveens arc coming away nicely, having benefited by the recent topdressings. Ijirt if the nature of the soil will permit it. the sinking of the cups deeper and the .'•Lifting of the holes ‘more frequently' would be a- marked improvement. ANNUAL MATCH WITH NEW PLYMOUTH.
On the King's Birthday, Tuesday, June 3. our annual match with the New Plymouth Club will take place, this year oil the New Plymouth Course. We are always sure of a splendid welcome at New Plymouth and, given anything like decent weather, we 1 should have a great time. I A notice has been posted at the •club bouse asking all members willing to make the trip to attach their names to the list. Although quite a number of players have signified their intention of going to New Plymouth, •‘Donnie” notices that the names are missing of many who will lie needed if the team is to lie anything like representative of our strength. It is lo be hoped that the list will see quite a number, of additions by Saturday next,, so that the task of the match committee in getting a team away may he made a little easier. Few members realise the amount of work involved in arranging the weekly coin petitions and club matches, and it is up to each player to make his notifications promptly, as this is of material assistance to the committee, j WEDNESDAY PLAYERS. I Oil account of a match having been | arranged with Manaia for to-day, the J usual Wednesday draw was dropped by the match committee this week.
