While flying between Oahuamaui and Hawaii an Air Corps sergeant and three other members of the crew attempted to leave a disabled bomber when 4000 feet in the air, but the shrouds of the former’s .parachute, became entangled in the ’plane’s rigging, taking him with it to the bottom, of the sea. A convoy of aeroplanes settled on the huge seas that were running in efforts to save the survivors. Rescue vessels picked up the occupants of the convoy machines, which, after rescuing the bomber’s crew, drifted helplessly for many hours.
