BRITISH ADVANCE.

The tremendous increase in the number of amateur boxers in the United Kingdom is reflected in tine difficulty which is being experienced in reducing the Army boxing championship meeting to manageable- proportions. This year the, entries' totalled 264 and of these 24 were from officers. Two years ago the increasing entries caused l the men in charge of the championships to raise the entrance fee, with the idea of restricting the championships to men who were proficient boxers. The net result has "been that entries have increased from under 150 to over 250! A way out bag been found in instituting eliminating competitions in the various commands. These were arranged for { six centres the survivors to meet in I the final stages at the Albert Hull, Lon- j den.
