Threats of physical violence and bombs, contained, in anonymous letters •written to a member, caused a stir in the Senate. Sir George Pearce (leader of the Opposition), while speaking on the waterside dispute concerning pick-up places, mentioned that such threats had been made to a certain member of the Opposition, who had been solemnly warned not to thwart the unionists’ plans, but Sir Geo. Pearce added that member® of the Opposition were not going to be deterred from doing what they regarded a® their public duty.
